The introduction of the Student Learning Assessments as an alternative to the current provincial achievement testing program marks an important opportunity. This session, jointly presented by the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Assessment Sector of Alberta Education, will provide an overview of the new grade three Student Learning Assessments (SLAs) to be piloted in the fall 2014. The sessions will focus in particular on the SLAs as a classroom tool for planning instruction. Topics include who writes?; what will they look like?; what information will they provide; when and where will they be written?;  and most importantly - why the new assessment program? The session will conclude with an opportunity for discussion and feedback.
